Early life of Larona Moagi
She was born on March 19, 1997, in Protea North, Soweto, Gauteng Province, South Africa. Larona has always enjoyed performing and was a member of the theatre society in high school. When she played the lead in a high school play, she realized she had acting skills. Her second interest in high school was law, which meant she aspired to work in the judicial system as a lawyer.
“I’ve always had faith in my talent as an actress, and I really appreciate the law,” she explained.

Larona went to Proteas North for primary and secondary school. She then earned a BA in Law from the University of Witswaterstrand in Gauteng Province.
“When it came time to start varsity,” Larona explained, “I decided to pursue a BA in law while continuing to take acting lessons and auditions to keep the flame alive.”
Throughout her degree program, she continued to attend acting classes and auditions in order to satisfy her acting desire.

Larona Moagi earned a role on The River in 2018 after auditioning for the purpose of it and to satisfy her acting passion. On January 29, 2018, she made her debut in The River as Itumeleng Mokoena, a fiery young rebel who refuses to be quiet and roll over when her family and community are victims of greed and excess.
She was nominated for Mzansi’s Rising Star at the Dstv MVCA in 2019. The results were announced in March 2020, and she did not win, but she was grateful for the nominations because, as a newcomer, she did not expect such recognition.
Her role on The River was cancelled in early 2021, three years after her first appearance on the show. Lindiwe Dlamini Dikana (played by Sindi Dlathu), her on-set mother, killed her character Itumeleng.
