Ndavi wears dress made by friend for Miss Universe’s interview
Ndavi Nokeri, Miss South Africa 2022, has began her Miss Universe trip.
The 23-year-old beauty queen just had her Miss Universe internet interview.
She revealed on social media that she donned an
“Yesterday, I had my online interview for @missuniverse and I got to do it in a piece designed by my second mother who has made me an outfit for every pageant that I’ve ever done. I am so grateful to also have her be a part of this journey,” she wrote.
“For those who don’t know Tannie Gretha, she has always made my gowns free of charge. Her only request was, ‘just go and win, that’s payment enough’. That has always encouraged me to work so much harder to make her and everyone else who invests and believes in me proud.”
Ndavi said the outfit she wore was special because the embroidery was done by Tsonga women from her home town who couldn’t find other work opportunities.
“But they decided to come together and use their skills to create this magic that I proudly get to showcase to the universe today,” said the beauty queen.
Last week, Ndavi also asked people to vote for her to win.
“It’s happening, we are going to Miss Universe. So, please help me to get into the semi-finalists by voting for me. There are many ways to vote, very easy. You can download the Miss Universe app and once you’re on the app, you can scroll until you find South Africa,” she said.
“Cast your first vote for free. Thereafter, you can vote as many times as you want. Or, if not, you can use the Miss Universe website,” she said.
The finale will be held at the Morial Convention Centre in New Orleans, US, on 14 January 2023.
