Get to know Segent Rea Rathebe from Skeem Saam.

Gontse Ntshegang is an actress best known for her role as Segent Rea Rathebe in Skeem Saam. She joins Skeem Saam in February 2023, after Captain Malibana leaves the soapie.

Beside Skeem Saam, she also played a role in the soapie Scandal as the street smart and sharp-witted Keketso Khoza, the manager of RTs, Johannesburg—the press hangout owned by Abbey (Michele Maxwell)—from 2008–2010.

She also played the role of Elizabeth in the soapie Rhythm City in 2011. The character was created to support Naomi’s (Moshidi Motshegwa) comeback as she attempted to win over Miles by pretending that Elizabeth’s baby was hers.

Gontse wanted to be a pharmacist when she grew up. Instead, she opted for the National School of the Arts, enrolling as a fine arts student, with a bit of drama, followed by full time drama at Wits University, which she dropped in her second year for physical theatre, set designs, and film studies.

Her main credits include a role in the stage production, Lion and the Jewel – alongside Scandal! cast members Nthati Moshesh and Sello Maake Ka-Ncube.

Gontse also appeared in the opening sequence for the DStv music station Channel O and had small roles in the drama series Yizo Yizo and Hillside.
In 2012, she was cast as Mukwevho Holdings marketer Mapule Modise in the SABC2 soapie Muvhango, replacing Matshepo Maleme in the role. Her first appearance was on Thursday, August 16, 2012.

Also in 2012, she guest starred in an episode of the international action series Strike Back.
She is the narrator of the reality series Mahadi-Lobola, which showcases the complex processes in which different cultures in South Africa participate during lobola negotiations.
